Pattern Design Story

The mystical World, driven by the findings and interpretations of Göbeklitepe, comes to life again with our designs. Inspiration from each symbol and the mysterious weave created by the symbol leads to the emergence of unique patterns. Diza Gabo, in the collections inspired by Göbeklitepe, refers to the lines of the modern aesthetic world, while at the same time bringing the mysterious history of Anatolia to the present day.

There is a figure that is the inspiration for each hand drawn pattern, and there is a history behind each figure.

Since 1995, an archaeological study has been carried out in Göbeklitepe, Urfa, that will make us rethink what we know about human history, change the established understanding and knowledge of history, question the history of religions, and which some of us are not even aware of. The symbols and animal figures on the columns in this unique history are the inspiration points of the creative process.

Diza Gabo's FW22-23 Collection is inspired by the majestic and mysterious Göbeklitepe region, which provides the oldest evidence of human history, and Göbeklitepe symbols.

Wheat

According to the findings obtained during the excavations; the people of Göbeklitepe seem to have realized first beer production. Wheat stands out as the first cultivated soil crop in this area. This shows that settled life may also exist in this region.

If we evaluate the mythological and historical meanings of wheat, wheat is generally thought to be a symbol of fertility and harmony.

Lizard

The symbolic meanings of the lizard are thought to be perseverance, patience and strength. At the same time, the lizard symbol is also considered as a talisman. In Egyptian mythology, the lizard represents divine wisdom and good fortune. It was also a symbol of fertility and warmth. According to Roman philosophy, it was the symbol of death and resurrection. Because the lizards changed their skin, they also represented rebirth.

In this design we are working with, we combined the meanings of both the productivity of wheat and the calm power of the lizard.

Snake

The snake has come from prehistoric times to today by gaining different meanings. The snake's molting feature is often regarded by historians of religion as a symbol of transformation, differentiation, and rebirth. At the same time, its symbolic meanings such as immortality, healing, fertility and life are represented in different fields such as medicine and mythology.

Scorpion

From the Jungian point of view, the scorpion is a non-ego image that represents our shadows from another point of view. It is also a very powerful and sharp image of transformation. It shows the duty and sanctity of Isis and Selk in Egyptian symbolism. It is the shape given to Orion by Artemis in Greek mythology. In Mesopotamian mythology, the scorpion, which is the symbol of magical power and protection due to the poison it contains, is also the symbol of Ishtar, the goddess of love and femininity.

In our designs, these symbols represent the fertility and life-giving of women, while at the same time embodying power and healing.

Fox

There is a fox symbol depicted in Göbeklitepe in a very easy to understand way. In Native American cultural myths, foxes are wise and benevolent. Also, they are connected to fire and the sun. In Celtic mythology, the fox is wise and cunning. The fox symbolizes the need to think fast and strategically. Highly adaptable creatures, they also symbolize the need to adjust to new situations. Generally, the Asian fox spirit is a magical shapeshifter, sometimes portrayed as having up to nine tails depending on its age and wisdom.
